To visit Antwerp is to eat in town. Antwerp knows tons of different restaurants. Maybe too many to choose from, since they all look very appealing and have great menus. Food in Antwerp is no issue. That’s why we decided to give you our favorite Antwerp restaurants, presented by our Front Office team.

General recommendations

We would like to start with some general recommendations. You not sure what you want to eat, or just want to walk and see where you will end up eating? Antwerp is the place to be. Get on those shoes and wander off into the beautiful city of Antwerp.

At the Antwerp-Central train station district you can already find over 30 different restaurants. From easy meals (burgers, fries) to Italian, sushi, a bistro, Argentinian and even more. This all at just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel.

Next to this, in the old town, the historical heart of Antwerp, you will find streets filled with restaurants. Whether you’re looking for Greek, Argentinian, Lebanese, Belgian, Russian or Asian food, you can find these in one of the many streets at the old town. Want to try something more hip, funky and trendy? Visit the new and upcoming Antwerp South. OK, Antwerp South is existing for longer time, but the main focus at Antwerp South these days is to make it more appealing. New restaurants pop-up with very nice menus. Take a walk down to the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp and start exploring the streets surrounding it. You will not regret it.

Team recommendations

Of course, we will not send you to places without names. We’ve asked our Front Desk staff to give their personal favorite restaurants in Antwerp. Below, we will give a recap of their personal recommendations.

Marlies recommends:

As Front Office Manager at Leopold Hotel Antwerp, a well-deserved meal after work is always welcome. Marlies is currently not living in the city of Antwerp, but picking restaurants in the city was no problem for her!

  • Bazinaat, Zurenborg, Antwerp. This restaurant is mostly known as a well-hidden gem. At the ‘Dageraadplaats’ in the beautiful Zurenborg of Antwerp, you can find this restaurant. Bazinaat is a buffet restaurant with dishes from many Arabic kitchens, such as Lebanon, Tunisia and Morocco. Address: Draakstraat 4 - Kleine Hondstraat 3, 2018 Antwerpen
  • De Rosenobel, Old Town, Antwerp. Are you vegetarian, or in the mood for some heathy vegetarian meals? De Rosenobel in the old town of Antwerp is the place to be, according to Marlies. A cozy buffet restaurant with daily fresh and biological ingredients and products. Address: Blauwmoezelstraat 2, 2000 Antwerpen

Alen and Sotirios recommend:

Life as a Front Office Receptionist can be challenging, but is different every single day. After a busy shift giving the best of service to the guests, the boys know where to go to for a nice meal!

  • De Bomma, Old Town, Antwerp. De Bomma (translated as: The Grandmother) is a place just behind the Cathedral of Our Lady and next to the City Hall at Grote Markt. If you do not know the place, the chances of walking pass by it, are possible. But don’t hesitate going inside. The restaurant is à la carte with dishes as you can get them à la grandmother style. Nothing too fancy, but real decent food at a good price. Plus, many pictures of grandmothers on the wall. Address: Suikerrui 16, 2000 Antwerpen

Sem recommends:

Our current Front Office Receptionist in training surely loves meat. And there is one specific place, which is the place to be for a good piece of meat in a great atmosphere. At a unique location, right in the heart of the old town of Antwerp.

  • Meat Factory, Old Town, Antwerp. Meat Factory, I don’t think I need to explain the name, do I now? They serve daily fresh meat. This in combination with the unique location, makes Meat Factory a great place for a meal. Address: Grote Markt 28, 2000 Antwerpen

Anne recommends:

As General Manager of the hotel, a good meal is always needed. And Anne knows just the place for a nice breakfast, brunch or lunch.

  • Barchel, Central Park, Antwerp. Barchel is not just a spot to just get your cup of coffee, it’s Coffee with Capital C. You can have breakfast, lunch and anything in between. With its bright and funky interior, you will sure have a good time. Just on the side of Central Park Antwerp. Closed on Sunday and Monday. Address: Van Breestraat 6, 2018 Antwerpen

Thomas recommends:

After yet another day at Reservations, or a shift at the Front Desk and maintaining the Facebook and Instagram pages and the Leopold Hotel Antwerp blog, Thomas will enjoy a good meal. And he knows just the place…

  • De Pottekijker, Old Town, Antwerp. A typical “If you don’t know it, you will walk past by it”. De Pottekijker is an old restaurant which serves delicious meals for a nice price. From meat to fish and all the way around. Make sure to reserve in advance, the restaurant is small and has limited tables available. Address: Kaasrui 5, 2000 Antwerpen

Tom recommends:

As assistant of the Front Office Manager, not a single day is the same. Tom has picked his favorite Antwerp restaurants for you.

  • Hulstkamp, Antwerp-Central District, Antwerp. If you’re looking for a decent authentic bistro, Hulstkamp is the place to be. They’ve been around since 1907 and still standing strong. With plenty possibilities for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And right at the Antwerp-Central District, on walking distance from the hotel! Address: De Keyserlei 23, 2018 Antwerpen
  • Zhao Wang, Antwerp South, Antwerp. Looking for sushi in Antwerp? Visit Zhao Wang! With two locations, in the Old Town and the trendy Zuid. Address: Scheldestraat 72, 2000 Antwerpen
